BANKSTOWN ASSOCIATION COVID-19 GUIDELINES

COVID-19 GUIDELINES UPDATED: 7th October 2021

Dear Members, Players and Parents,
GOOD NEWS! Bankstown Basketball Stadium is Reopening!
The stadium will reopen its doors 9am, Monday 18th October 2021 and will be available for casual shooting and court hire only. Due to public health orders anyone 16 years or older who wishes to access the stadium MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED. A staff member or the COVID Safety Officer will require you to register via the Stadium’s QR Code and then show your Vaccination certificate before any access is granted. I want to stress that this Health Order has been mandated and anyone who is caught within the stadium unvaccinated can receive a $1,000 fine and the stadium a $5,000 fine. FACE MASKS ARE MANDATORY when entering the stadium and only removed if playing on the court. We hope you will all respect the position the Association is in until all community members are free to access all venues as proposed from 1st December 2021. Obviously, these health orders can change and the Association will adhere and adjust as required.
Senior Competitions:Senior Competitions will commence from Monday, 1st November 2021. All players must be fully vaccinated to be allowed to play until the 1st of December after this date all community members can access the competitions. Those that have expired registrations a discount is being provided by BNSW and the Association to which we’ll pass on to you. All players must be registered before they can commence play. Currently there will be no spectators allowed and the Association will request all players leave immediately after their game through the exit doors at the end of court 1. Face masks are mandatory for entering, exiting and passively moving within the stadium. Masks can be removed once participating on the court. Sharon will be in contact with all teams that have entered for the new season in the coming days/ week.
Junior Competitions:Junior Competitions will commence from Friday/ Saturday – 5/6th November 2021. Players 15 years or under are presently not required to be vaccinated but the parent/ guardian/ carer must be fully vaccinated and prove this at the entry of the stadium including registering via the QR Code. Due to social distancing protocols the Association will require teams to remain outside the stadium and enter once the previous game has finished. Christine will provide specific details around the COVID safety measures and competition to the clubs by the end of next week.
Junior Representatives:The Association is conscious that the 2021 rep season was interrupted and most families had prepaid for the full season. In light of this the Association will be refunding $100 per player that had paid their fees in full for the 2021 season. If there is any money owing to the Association that debt will be applied to the $100 refund. Those that desire to have their child trial for the 2022 season you can instruct Debbie to hold the $100 in credit and if you child is selected in a team then the $100 can be applied to their fees for the 2022 season. Please be patient as Debbie works through the refunds but we hope to have this concluded by mid-November.
In regards to the representative junior trials for the 2022 season. The Association is looking at stagnating the trials for U12 & U14s in November while the U16s & U18s will be held in December. More information will be forwarded shortly to the exact details around the age group schedules and competition formats for the 2022 season. Bruins Basic Skills Program (Learn to Play):The Bruins Basic Skills Program will recommence on Monday 25th October 2021. Children 15 years or younger are not required to be vaccinated presently. However, the parent/guardian/ carer must be fully vaccinated to access the stadium. Presently we can only allow one (1) parent per child to keep our 1:4 square metre social distancing rule. Parents/ Guardians/ Carers must sign in via the QR Code and then show a staff member their vaccination certificate before both the child and minder are allowed into the stadium. The managers of the program will provide further information in regards to the number of weeks, price differential and use of Active Kids vouchers. The staff will still be contactable via email and from the 18th October will be at the stadium on a set roster to cater for the opening hours of the stadium. All our staff will be vaccinated to be able to work at the stadium until December to which time that the health order for unvaccinated is lifted. We understand that the vaccination position and COVID Safety Procedures are going to be constrictive for a little while and we really plead with people to be patient, understanding and be respectful to the Association’s staff. We simply want to provide a safe environment for both staff, members and visiting patrons.
Take care everyone and we look forward to seeing you all really soon.

bb2021

Dear Members, Players and Parents,

As per the directive from the NSW Government, Bankstown Basketball Stadium is currently closed from all operations until midnight 28th August 2021. We hope to re-open the stadium on Sunday 29th August 2021.

Therefore, any programs including Skills & Development, Senior & Junior Competition games, Rep Training and games, Casual court hire (basketball & badminton), casual shooting has been cancelled over this period.

Due to the extended lockdown all staff are now on reduced days/ hours and working from home. They are only contactable via their email addresses, but please be patient with receiving a response. You can obtain their email contacts from our website - https://bruinsbasketball.com.au/contact-us/

Skills & Development Classes (Bankstown)

The Association would still like to hold a few weeks of classes before the end of the term, but this will be determined by the NSW Government directions on the recommencement of community sport. The Coaching Department will provide further information around class availability and costings as we get closer to the 29th August commencement date.

Skills & Development Classes (Liverpool)

Due to the unpredictability of a start date and the fact that it’s a brand new class we have decided to cancel both classes for term 3 and will look to re-establish these classes to commence on the 6th October 2021. Those that have registered for these classes Caitlin will be in contact to attempt to roll these registrations to the new term.

Senior Competitions

Since the semi finals were scheduled to be held over August it has been decided to cancel the existing competition and then start up the Winter/Summer Competition as soon as the stadium is able to recommence operation. Sharon will share further information when it becomes available.

Junior Competitions

The Association would still like to hold the Junior Competition this season, but a few concepts will be floated to the clubs and teams on a revised competition format to allow a make up of games and possible finals format. Christine will forward this information in the near future.

Primary School Competition

Due to the extension of the lockdown and lack of weeks remaining in term 3, the Primary School Competition is cancelled. The Association is hoping to recommence the new competition pending the Department of Education & NSW Government Health directive for school sport in term 4 2021.

Bankstown Basketball Association AGM

In consultation with Tracey Lopez (President) the AGM has been cancelled for Tuesday 31st August and rescheduled for Tuesday 28th September at 7pm to be held in the Bruins Lair at the stadium with COVID restrictions including social distancing and face masks.

Representative Basketball

All Junior and Senior Rep training has been cancelled until the 31st August. The weekend games are dictated by BNSW, as soon as the information becomes available Debbie will be in contact with the team managers.

Thank you again for the support over this period and we hope to be able to open the stadium on Sunday, 29th August 2021.

Take care and stay safe
